San Roque (New)

PAR: 72 LENGTH: 6,626 metres

Designed by coveted American designer Perry Dye and opened in 2003 the New course hopes to offer low and high handicappers and alternative to the Old course. Four greens are guarded by water and whilst the fairways are more generous than the Old course, there are over 100 bunkers waiting for misplaced drives.

San Roque (OLD)

The host of the Spanish Open in 2005, San Roque needs no introduction. Designed by Dave Thomas and opened in 1990, the course has had the bunkering re-designed by Seve Ballesteros. The clubhouse hosted team rooms for the European and American teams from the Ryder cup of 1997 held in Valderrama.

The course has tight sloping fairways demanding accuracy and greens are as demanding as they come, rewarding well judges putts but ruthlessly punishing misjudged ones.

There is a genuine feel of history about the place even though it hasn’t been open 20 years. An experience no golfer will forget.
